"The humor dominates the productions of Katrin Gattinger, regardless of the material she uses, wether it be steel tubes or scraps of paper. Behind the joy and amusement we can feel towards creations of this German artist, there are also questions raised concerning visual, physical and political forces.
To stage and overcome them may be one of the motivations for creation for this multi-talented artist. In her installations, photos, sculptures and videos, she likes to seed confusion and points out the complexity of perceptions, reorientates views, proposes alternatives that can be logical yet surprising. She knocks down rigid conventions and creates new ones." (Frida Moore)
